Christmas Card Display Ideas

By now you probably have lots of Christmas greeting cards piling up somewhere and it always seems like a challenge to figure out interesting ways to display them. I put together four ideas that help to integrate them into your decor seamlessly. Of course these are geared more towards a “rustic” or shabby chic Christmas theme to go along with our Woodland series, but you can always add a coat of fresh paint or whimsical details to change up the look to fit your decor. The main idea is to look around and see what you have available.

  • Turn a rustic shutter into a pocket holder for holiday cards. The cards fit snugly into the slats and make a great display piece. For a modern approach use the same idea but paint the shutter in a solid semi gloss spray paint.

  • I was ecstatic when I found this wire “gate” at a thrift store and scooped it right up. It makes a fabulous display piece for Christmas cards & tiny ornaments. You can slide some cards in between the layers, or punch a small hole in the corner of the card, loop a thin piece of ribbon through, and tie it onto the gate.

  • Another fab find I came across recently was this old ladder – they are all the rage right now in interior & party decor. It goes so great with my Rustic Woodland Christmas setting and adds vertical interest where needed. You can used small clothes pins to attach cards to jute twine, ribbon, or yarn swags. Add some ornaments to give the look some variety.

  • Finally, add a swag of Christmas cards to the backdrop of your dessert table like I did for my Rustic Christmas treats table. Tiny clothespins hold the cards onto twine or ribbon and make decorating the area that much easier.

What are your ideas for displaying greeting cards this year?

later on and see if the problem still exists.

  3. I love the swag holder. I use something like that to display my son’s artwork, so I can easily switch out his artwork as it comes in on a daily basis. That’s a great idea to use it for Christmas cards during the holidays!

  4. I punch a whole at the top of my Christmas cards and use yarn to tie them to the stair railing. I love your ladder idea!

  5. Tracy, that window sounds divine! I’ve been on the lookout for an old window frame with glass still in tact but no luck yet.

  6. I love the shutter card holders! I’m seeing them everywhere! Maybe I’ll do that for next; a good old card garland in front of the fireplace is my display this year!
