Beautiful Al Fresco Dinner Party {Guest Feature}

I have a gorgeous guest feature today that will surely have you planning an outdoor dinner with friends {as soon as it warms up for us “seasonal” states}.  This alfresco dinner party was sent in by photographer Cari Wilton, and captures a lovely Washington evening under the stars.

One of the things I love about this is that it was a group effort to pull everything together.  The setting is so inviting and nothing is overly ‘fussy,’ but is completely elegant.  Check out Cari’s beautiful photos and read her description below…

From Cari:  “A lovely terraced backyard with a creek flowing through it was all the inspiration our group of friends needed to create an outdoor dining experience. Our friend, Drew’s, parents graciously allowed us to borrow the aforementioned backyard for the evening. Drew’s mother, Connie, even loaned us items from her antique store (Diettrich House Antiques) to complete our tableware.

The guys set up a tent frame over the dining table from which they hung a chandelier and string lights. My dear friend Hilary collected and arranged garden flowers for the centerpieces, making use of her beautiful collection of copper vessels. I sewed the table linens, including the ruffled burlap tablecloth on the buffet (Hilary found a picture of one on Pinterest which I copied).

I also had the opportunity to dust off my grandmother’s china. Nearly everyone contributed to the Italian-inspired buffet. A fire in the fire pit kept the autumn air from chilling us, and romantic tunes from the 40’s and 50’s wafted from outdoor speakers. The lights were so magical as the sun left us in darkness. With the effort divided among several people the end result was well worth it. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely!
