Thanksgiving Place Setting :: 5 Simple Elements

Thanksgiving place setting in 5 steps

Don’t let the idea of setting a Thanksgiving table stress you out. I love creating elaborate tablescapes but sometimes simple is better. This year I decided to put together a place setting that’s based on 5 simple elements: burlap, place cards, interesting place card holder, Lucky wishbones, and a downloadable Thanksgiving word search. Here are the ideas for creating a simple but chic Thanksgiving place setting….

5 pieces to create a Thanksgiving place setting thanksgiving place setting

Admittedly, the flair comes from the styling of these 5 pieces:

  • Spray paint a vintage floral frog with bronze metallic paint to dress it up and bring it into modern day.
  • Use the same paint to cover the Lucky Wishbones to give them a little glam.
  • A burlap table topper looks great for Thanksgiving. Combined with a gold charger, and the other metallic details, it’s a great juxtaposition between glam and rustic. Use the burlap as a topper, a runner, or cut into place mats.
  • Printed name cards don’t have to be fancy. Just use a pretty font and a flourish from PicMonkey.com and your all set to print.
  • Add a fun element to the day with this Thanksgiving word search I created. It’s filled with words that we should all be thankful for and you can download it for free {see bottom}. Punch a couple of small holes at the top and tie on a pencil for guests to circle their words with. These cute twig pencils were found at TJMaxx/HomeGoods.

Comments

  1. I love the combination of metallic and rustic. Gold chargers are a table setting staple, as they dress up the place setting, with the other elements being able to give a formal or simple theme to the overall setting; why I choose to make that gold charger purchase years ago. And TJMaxx…love that store. I can always find something there and for VERY reasonable prices! Your simple selections have given me some things to consider incorporating in our table settings this year. Blessings & a wonderful Thanksgiving Day to your family!

  2. Thank you for sharing. This gives me some ideas for our table.

  3. Love the wishbones! Hmmmm maybe I can still get them in time? :)

  4. Very pretty and easy. thanks for sharing.

  5. Oh my…what wonderful ideas that made such a unique and interesting place setting. I LOVE IT!!! Ohhh the wishbone…what an awesome “touch”. That brought back some childhood memories of my sister and I pulling on it and hoping we would be the one to get the wish. Thank you for that!!!! I’m going to borrow your word game and take it to my sister’s. We always love to play games after we clear away the Thanksgiving meal (that would be the food and the table..hehe) and this would be a fun one to start with. Again, THANK YOU!!

    Happy SITS Saturday,
    Regi
