This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Lean Cuisine, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #HonestlyGood #ad http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.
three meals

Even though I love to cook and bake for entertaining, making everyday meals becomes pretty mundane for me. What’s more is we try to eat somewhat healthy on a regular basis so we can indulge on the weekend or when we eat at a restaurant. With that in mind I was excited to try the new Honestly Good frozen meals from Lean Cuisine because they’re made with REAL wholesome ingredients. And since I work from home I eat a lot of frozen meals for lunch.

I hope you’ll read my reviews below – these are not your ordinary frozen dinners!

Something you may not know is that my husband does some travel for work, so when he’s away I don’t always want to cook a full meal for me and the kids. I picked up three different dinners from Target, and since my son LOVES beef, my daughter loves chicken, and I love fish, I was able to tailor the meal plan accordingly….of course I HAD to try all three since it’s part of the job, right!

As I mentioned, we try to eat pretty healthy and these meals fit the bill with protein, a generous serving of vegetables, and the right amount of carbs. They also have their own sauce {you add it during cooking} that adds a gourmet flavor to each one!

I’ve had my fair share of frozen dinners and to be perfectly honest, Lean Cuisine is my go-to brand.  Here’s what I liked about these:

  • The beef was lean and tender.
  • The chicken was an actual piece of chicken. Not cut up where you don’t know what you’re getting {I hate when I bite into one of those fatty pieces. Yuk!}.
  • The salmon is wild caught and delicious! It’s actually my favorite meal so far.
  • The grains are brown and whole {not white, with no nutritional value}.
  • The vegetables are perfectly cooked.
  • The sauces are full of gourmet flavor.
  • The portion sizes seem bigger than other frozen meals. Don’t know if that’s true, but it felt that way.

3 meals

I’m so glad to have found these meals which can help us eat healthy. I’ve already stocked up on more for my working lunches.

Some of my other “tricks” to healthy eating:

  1. We eat off of small plates {salad plates} instead of full size ones. It’s a great trick to the eye – it looks like more food because it covers the whole plate. It literally changed our lives and how we eat, and we’ve been doing it for about 8 years.
  2. Drink tons of water – not because they say to drink 8 glasses a day, but because it helps you feel full. Plus, it helps digestion overall.
  3. Eat plenty of fiber. It’s the closest thing to negative calories!
  4. Eat well and healthy all week and you can live it up on the weekend! I’ve followed that rule for about 8 years and stand by it. Of course you have to move too, which brings me to number 5…
  5. MOVE your body! I’m convince that “exercise” isn’t necessarily the way to stay fit, but being active & moving around a lot, is. Case in point – I’ve fallen off the exercise wagon for the past couple of years and gained a few pounds. Over the last 6 months I’ve lost at least half of that weight not by formal exercise, but because I’ve been running around so much between the move, and work, and decorating, and life, etc.  -Now I just need to pump some iron to tighten it back up!
