Books For The Do It Yourself-er

books for the do it yourselfer

If there’s one thing I realized when we moved, it’s the fact that I have books…lots and lots of books! While some of them are classic novels and reference type books I’ve collected over the years, 90% of them are cookbooks, entertaining & party books, and home decorating books. I’m old school that way – I love to be able to curl up in a chair, flip the pages at my leisure, and get inspired.

I’m also lucky enough to have some books sent to me from publishers, and here are a few I thought you might be interested in.  These are all geared toward the do it yourself-er, whether in baking, crafting, or decorating.

Mason Jar Crafts

Mason Jar Crafts – We know that mason jars are everywhere these days and have you seen the special edition blue ones from Ball yet? Well, this book helps you make the most of all those canning jars with ideas from storage, to kids crafts, to favors, to one of my favorites {above}, treat jar escort cards. This book will even inspire you well past the mason jar, and I can certainly see myself using many of the ideas inside.

Cookies & Cream

Cookies & Cream – Really? Isn’t this a no-brainer? Another cookbook to add to my sweets collection? SOLD! This one taps into our love of ice cream sandwiches and gives us a whole plethora of cookie recipes, ice cream recipes, and combinations that will have you busy all summer and beyond. Especially when you consider you can mix and match all the different cookies with the different ice cream flavors. For the baker in you, this is a winner.

Terrariums Reimagined

Terrariums Reimagined – This book takes me back to childhood where we created tiny little landscapes for school. This modern take, however, uses some “outside the box” containers to create terrariums with, and I WAS inspired to work with succulents as a centerpiece here, after reading this book. I think this is a good source of information, but with so much emphasis put on unusual containers {like a light bulb}, you might be left wanting more in the way of visual inspiration. I would have loved to have seen more about how terrariums can be used to help beautify a space…but that’s just me.

My book reviews are not sponsored. All opinions are my own. Have a great day!
