Party Appetizer – Bacon & Blue Cheese Dates

bacon and blue cheese dates

Here’s the perfect appetizer to serve during your shabby chic bridal shower or ANY casual gathering – bacon wrapped blue cheese dates. During a ladies night at my house a few months ago, one of the gals brought these over to share and I was hooked! You can’t eat just one. The combination of salty bacon, creamy cheese, and sweet dates is addicting!

You can make these and serve them at room temperature which is always a bonus. I recommend using Gorgonzola {dulce} if you can find it. It’s a milder, slightly sweet {in terms of cheeses} blue cheese and so delicious. My next go-to blue is Danish blue because it’s also mild but flavorful. These are easy to prepare and don’t require any special measurements. Just make as many as you need!

Bacon & Blue Cheese Dates Appetizers

  • Whole dried dates
  • Blue Cheese {I prefer Gorgonzola or Danish blue}
  • Bacon {I like to use Center cut}

Cook bacon to ‘almost done’ and remove; drain on a paper towel and pat off excess grease.

Cut dates down the middle, but not all the way through, so you have a “boat.” Add a few crumbles of blue cheese inside the date boat, and wrap bacon around the date. Secure with a toothpick.

Cook wrapped dates in oven at 350 degrees for about 5 minutes, just until cheese is “melty.”

Serve and enjoy!
