Words To Live By…

SIGN

As I started getting older I noticed that certain aspects of my youth were starting to fade – aside from great skin and fast metabolism, my positive outlook & open attitude were taking a hit.  I attribute it to the fact that I’ve been around the block once or twice or 15 times, and have seen the bad with the good too many times….

I did NOT like seeing the world through soot covered glasses, so I made the conscious decision to let go of the negativity and surround myself with positive, uplifting people.  People who make me WANT to be better, and SEE things more positively.

When I found this quote above, I thought it reflected my new motto perfectly.  You know, they say you are the average of your 5 closest friends, so if you surround yourself with Debbie Downers or Negative Nelly’s, it will drag you down.  If you associate with positive, giving, encouraging friends, then you will become that as well.  That’s what I do in business, and that’s what I’m hoping to do in “real life” too.  It’s hard to make new friends when you’re all grown up, and that is just one other reason we were looking for a change in home/location – hoping for some fabulous new neighbors and friends!

Here’s to living life with an open heart, and never being too old to reflect on yourself and improve.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Wow Chris! I have recently been thinking and doing the same thing in business and my personal life! It was very comforting (and sad) to see some one else has come to the same conclusion. Soot covered glasses covers it! Thanks for your post, it made me feel not so alone in my thinking.

  2. Chris, I am coming to that same conclusion. I looked at myself in the mirror not too long ago and thought “What happened to the dreamer, the girl who could do anything?” I’ve been pruning things in my life and hoping for some healthy regrowth. Your blog is uplifting and encouraging. Thank you!

  3. Thank you! So helpful! I can relate to this!

  4. The posse loves your comment about being the average of your 5 closest friends. We may have to quote you on that in a future post. Thanks for the inspiration. You’ve become a favorite.

THANK YOU for this! The truth in this post rings for miles! Have a great and blessed week!!

  6. Thanks for all the great responses!! You never know when something will ring true with others, but it’s always great to see when it does!

  7. This is a great message. As someone that struggles with negativity (I blame it on my “realist” attitude!) I work on my positivity everyday..surrounding yourself with positive people is definitely a great way to do that.
