Review: The California Wine Club

I can’t believe “black Friday” is next week!  Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?  I haven’t but I think my own “wish list” is already filling up.  One thing I do love to receive is wine, and I’ve had the opportunity to try out a 2 month membership to www.cawineclub.com {do you REALLY think I would pass that up?}.

We actually joined a wine club waaaaay back before we had children, and the only reason we stopped the shipments was because I became pregnant.  Unfortunately we don’t have a wine cellar where we could store up 9+ months worth of wine ; D

The idea is simple:  there’s no “joining” fee.  You just sign up and receive 2 bottles of wine to try each month {you pay a flat fee of $49.95 for the wine & shipping}.  I received a bottle each of red and white from Robledo Winery, and the Tempranillo we drank above, was really smooth and delicious – this was one of the better reds I’ve had in fact.  California wines in general are well known for being high quality and delicious.  My husband and I had a chance to visit Sonoma wine country many years ago and we had a blast going from winery to winery to do tastings.

The white Souvignon Blanc was light and fruity and slightly sweet.  A great wine to have with dinner.  Make sure you don’t serve it right out of the refrigerator – it will be too cold.  Let it sit out for 20 minutes to take the chill off and get the full flavor.

If you’d like a chance to try some wines for yourself, The California Wine Club is hosting a giveaway which you can enter here.  Cheers!
