Shabby Chic Baby Shower

Shabby Chic baby shower theme with beautiful details with vintage charm.

When the mom-to-be wants pink and shabby chic for her baby shower theme, this is what you give her! Host a shower luncheon for 20 with these ideas for shabby chic decorations, table settings, and favors.

Use old and new items with vintage charm. Search thrift stores or shop online at places like Ebay or Etsy for treasures.

And you can do it all on a budget with my design tips!

Decorations

  • A large painters canvas can be a party staple when you use it as a backdrop to buffet tables and dessert tables. Just wrap a couple of yards around it and use duck tap or pins to hold it in place. It’s light and mobile!
  • Use an antique window (find them at thrift shops) and give it new life by painting on the word “Bebe” using stencils. The awesome news is that you can scrape off this paint job with a razer blade and use the window in another party scene!
  • Use mini dress forms for décor. These wire forms with a pregnant belly are just perfect for a baby shower!
  • Display traditional baby shoes and use thin ribbon in place of shoe laces. You can match the ribbon color to match the party color scheme. They look adorable sitting on mini boxes.
  • Dress up an old silver plated tray with chalkboard paint and turn it into a sign. This stylish party sign can be used and customized over and over.
  • Do something interesting with an empty frame. Fill it with coordinating fabric and attach fabric flowers, buttons, and a tiny onesie to give it some personality. Just wrap the fabric around the cardboard backing and use duck tape to keep in in place. Use straight pins or a glue gun to apply the decorative elements.
  • Embellish a drink dispenser with fabric, flowers, ribbon.

Table Settings

How do you style 4 tables for 20 guests on a budget? Here the scoop.

To give the biggest bang for the buck start with paper placemats. They were the perfect style for this shabby chic party and kept the budget on point.

Use 8-ounce mason jars for drinks. Dress them up by tying a thin ribbon or coordinating fabric around the neck, and adding pretty paper straws.

Centerpiece

If you have multiple tables, create a few different looks for centerpieces. They should coordinate but they don’t have to match exactly!

  • Create small vignettes and use empty frames filled with moss from the craft store.
  • Use silver trays and add shabby chic details.
  • Place tea cups and saucers on top of painted candlesticks and hold them in place with glue dots. Fill the cups with pink and white flowers for a beautiful centerpiece.
  • Do something unexpected by using the letter tiles from a Scrabble game to spell out words like “baby love” or “gifts.”

Party Favors

Give guests something sweet to take home with chocolate “button” candy pops. Make them up to a week ahead and wrap them in cellophane bags tied with ribbon. This DIY gift is a money saver and looks adorable on the table at each place setting.

PARTY TIP: Choose a detail that you can carry throughout the party theme. In this case it was buttons because it has a shabby chic feel and babies are as cute as a button!

I was asked to style this event for the winner of the Dream Baby Shower, a local contest run by Richmond Mom. As you may remember I styled the one from last year with a Little Birdies baby shower theme, and was excited to be a part of the project again. I take on very few real parties these days since my business has changed course, so it’s nice to get my feet wet and style a real event.

You’ll also notice the room photos lack flowers or punch. That’s because the shower was held in the evening and I had to get the photos before it got too dark. Once the flowers and pink lemonade were in place it all came together!

Thanks to local vendors, Wild Greens Catering and Frostings for providing food and cupcakes.

Sharing is caring!
