Entertain With A “Silk”y Pina Colada

Today I’ve teamed up with Silk to bring you some tasty drink recipes and to show how easy it is to incorporate Silk brands into your entertaining. My husband actually drinks Silk Almond and Vanilla flavors, so it wasn’t a difficult decision for me to try using it in a cocktail {or mocktail}.

They’ve made it easy by creating an array of drinks for you to make, located on the Silkology Fabebook page. I was drawn to the Silk Pina Colada since it totally says “summer party” to me, and we had the Vanilla flavored soy milk on hand. I did make a few tweeks to the recipe listed, and it turned out delicious. Here’s my version:

“Silk”olada

  • 1 cup Silk Vanilla soy milk
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple
  • 1 banana, peeled & frozen
  • 3 oz. Coconut Rum
  • Extra ice if desired

Slice frozen banana and put into a blender. Pour in Silk, crushed pineapple, rum & ice {if using} and blend until smooth.

Pour and serve.

NOTE: by freezing the banana, you decrease the need for adding crushed ice….a tip I learned when I was pregnant & drinking “mommy” smoothies.

The result was great and I would serve this to some gal pals while sitting on the patio or by the pool. This is also a much healthier way to make a pina colada than using those prepared mixes. I will say that my recipe was a bit more banana flavored than coconut, but you can also add coconut extract or use the Silk Coconut flavor instead.

Silk inspired me to think outside of the bowl with their new Silkology-inspired drink recipes. Tell me something new you want to try this summer when entertaining to win a Silkology prize package.
