“Over The Moon” Theme Baby Shower

I’ve been so anxious to share the latest Operation Shower event ever since I saw the first photos of that amazing backdrop above. This “Over the Moon” theme is inspired by the nursery rhyme, Hey Diddle Diddle… and couldn’t be more adorable. With the help of Abigail of Paper & Cake, and many other volunteers, Amy created one of the more creative themes to date, I think. All the references to the cow jumping over the moon, and the dish and the spoon are magical. From the dessert table to the seated tables to the gift areas every detail is flawless and beautiful.

As you may know by now Operation Shower gives these group showers to expecting wives of our nations service men who are deployed. They are showered with huge boxes stuffed full of baby items, more gift at stations set up around the room, and some special surprises – this time Pottery Barn Kids gave everyone a crib! Dessert tables at these events are always a focal point and the frames with the decorative details make this one a stand out. The table is full of cupcakes and other treats provided by generous vendors {see full list at bottom} that the moms can eat now and/or take home for later. I think the cupcake toppers are fantastic alternating yarn poms with Abigail’s graphics. These 2 elements are repeated in the banner hanging across the front of the table too.

Amy’s signature style is to create 3 different but coordinating centerpieces for the seated tables. This time a graphic cow “jumping” over a yarn ball “moon”, a fiddle placed with hay bales & flowers, and a collection of custom plates, a sign, flowers, and wooden spoon, all make up the table focal points. Place settings are topped with napkins & the cutest napkin wraps ever, plus a custom program. Moms are always given a place card so it feels personal – just like her best friend is giving her a shower.

A bountiful lunch display is also provided and I’m sure it tasted as good as it looks. I’m drooling just looking at the abundance of fresh food here! The table skirts are finished with a pretty ribbon and paper circle band that adds that finishing touch.

Of course the purpose of the day is to celebrate the new-moms-to-be and thank them for their sacrifice and service to our country. Operation Shower has found the perfect way to do that with these gorgeous showers!
