Color Your Party

{inspiration boards by Camille Styles}

Color is one of the essential ingredients when planning a special party such as birthdays, showers, or weddings. In fact it’s probably the most prominent element. There are many tools to use when pulling a color scheme together: inspiration boards, Pantone’s colors of the year, paint chips from the hardware store, etc. I’ve always been inspired by home decor and love using interior design elements in entertaining. I feel like home decorating and home entertaining go hand in hand – if you have a pretty place to live you want to share it with friends and family, right?

With this in mind I’ve partnered with Glidden/Akzo Nobel Paints to introduce a fun new tool to help you in choosing colors that are right for you {or your guest of honor} in home decor or event planning. They’re launching a great new website, My Colortopia, that provides inspiration and advice on choosing colors, how to use the colors to create amazing design, and helpful techniques. To get started you can use this “quiz” to answer a few simple questions and it will generate color suggestions for you.

I’m a sucker for these quizzes so it was fun for me to take it and generate my own color ideas. I encourage you to visit My Colortopia for more inspiration like the fabulous frame or shutter “backdrop” shown above.

Now be sure to take the quiz and let us know what colors were generated for you!

  1. I love color and I love all the pics! Color doesn’t mean bright, necessarily!
