Creative DIY Details {Backyard Wedding}

When you see this backyard wedding with vintage details, you won’t beleive it was a DIY event.  It looks like the work of a major event designer with so many amazing vignettes and creative touches.  The bride enlisted the help of family and friends, and pulled off this amazing wedding in just 3 months.  Beautifully photographed by Dana Grant, you will love every last detail.
The backyard was filled with beautifully arranged areas of interest.  The highlight of the head dining table was the hanging window panes as a backdrop, and seating provided by a different style vintage chair at each place.  For the guest tables, each displayed a similar, but not matching, centerpiece of books, clocks, simple flowers, and a unique mini hat box-style display.  I love the gorgeous decorated boxes covered in fabric, lace, ribbon, and extra bling!
Three great ideas above:  A beautifully appointed sign-in area for guests complete with old typewriter and “dear diary” note; A fun display with a framed list of important moments in the couples courtship, featuring more gorgeous boxes and distressed drawers; A whimsical spot for writing advice for the happy couple -and placing into a bird cage.  Notice the metal tray-turned-magnet board with customized magnets, and the crafty hat display!
Hinged doors provide a beautiful back drop to the cake table;  Rustic drawers with decorative knobs hold silverware;  A diy soda station – those are bottle caps decorating the sign; Mason jars filled with flowers hang from chairs, and create “art” when hung inside a frame.  And a fantastic idea for a photo station – set up a small couch and hinge together some old doors, and you have an amazing photo “booth”.   You can see more of this wedding featured in 3 posts here, here, and here.  Also featured on Green Wedding Shoes.
This wedding could easily translate into a Bridal Shower on a smaller scale. You can incorporate the special tables such as the ‘advice for the love birds’ with bird cage, the list of ‘important moments,’ and the sign-in area could be a place to hold envelopes to be pre-addressed by the guests and later used by the bride to send out ‘thank you’ notes.  At the shower, one envelope could be pulled at random, to receive a prize.  The creative details can be tailored to any vintage decor.
